About Dixie State College of Utah

Dixie State College of Utah, also referred to as DSC, Dixie College, or the Dixie State, is a college in St. George, which is a city in the southwestern part of the US state of Utah, serving as the county seat of Washington County, with a population estimated at a number of nearly 73 000 inhabitants, during the 2007 census.

DSC was established in September, 1911, and was originally called St. George Stake Academy, its current name being adopted in 2000, when the Utah State Legislature granted the college baccalaureate degree status. It presently offers its students baccalaureate and associate degrees, in a wide range of study areas, which include criminal justice, psychology, education and computer and information technology.

Athletics

Dixie State College's athletic teams are known as the Red Storm (formerly known as the Rebels), and they compete in NCAA Division II, since July, 2006.
